13 Week Update

Chris and I had our 13 week appointment this morning at 8:45. I woke up so excited! We went in and were called back by the nurse. She had me hop up on the scale and told me that I had gained another 2 1/2 pounds since our last visit on June 30th. I said, "Yes!" She said that she hasn't seen many women excited about their weight gain and wished she would have recorded it to play it back again to me in a few months! I just feel that if I'm growing then that means they're growing...so it's all good! My blood pressure was also excellent so that was great to hear.
Dr. Keatts came in and gooped up my stomach and pushed that awesome little wand around my belly. It is amazing just how quickly those babies appear! She said "Here's baby 1, and here's baby 2!" Their heartbeats were just pounding away. She said their hearts were beating nice and strong. They were being so photogenic for us today! Baby B, which is the baby on the right in my womb was looking up at us with his/her little arms curled up in front of their body. I could see Baby B's eyes and mouth. I had never yet been able to see them in such incredible detail. Baby A was hanging out upside down. It is to the left in my womb and seems to like it their just fine! In one shot she was able to get both of them together. They were SO active! I couldn't believe it. Their little arms and legs were just kicking and punching away. Poor Baby B was getting kicked in the ribs by Baby A! They were not measured today, but they are looking right around the same size and the Dr. said that everything is looking really good so praise God for that!

They are for sure in two separate amniotic sacs which is good as it will reduce the chance of their cords tangling around each other and what not. Dr. Keatts said that at the next appointment, which will be around 16 weeks we will listen for their two separate heartbeats and will also most likely be able to tell for sure if they are identical or fraternal. We will find out the sexes in about 6 or 7 more weeks!

I told Chris and Dr. Keatts that they are such amazing babies on that computer screen, but I forget that they are always right here inside me! Everywhere I go those amazing little miracles go too! I LOVE IT!

Here are a few pics from today. Thanks for visiting my blog and enjoying this with us!

Oh, and also...I had to go for blood work today....just some prenatal stuff....and this amazing man found my vein on the very first try!!! WOO HOO!!! I praised him after being stuck like 10 times the last time.

I know that these pictures are always hard to make sense of...but I'll do the best I can. The top picture is Baby A. To the left is the head and the body is to the right. You can see the little hand above the chest.

The bottom picture is Baby B. Isn't that a perfect little picture! It is either sucking it's thumb or is holding it right up to the face. I love the perfect little shape! How precious!

I LOVE this picture!! I wish you could have seen it live! They were just duking it out! Baby B is on top with the head on the left and body sticking out to the right. Baby A is upside down with his/her feet kicking right into Baby B. Baby A was kicking the thin membrane that separates the two of them. Dr. Keatts typed right on the picture "active!" I haven't even been drinking any caffeine!

Amazing stuff isn't it???????

What fun!!! I'm so glad to run across this blog of yours. I've just sat here and read the whole thing. I should be in bed sleeping, but this is what maternity blogs do to me. :)

I am so extremely excited for you. What a gift to be carrying twins!!!!!

By the way (again!), it was not really 8:56 and 8:57 pm when I posted those last comments. I think it was closer to midnight actually. Just wanted to clarify in case anyone wondered why I said I should have been in bed sleeping! Not that anyone would have noticed... Oh, no, I'm not a perfectionist! :)
