Grayson and Ethan - 4 months

Unca' Rodga and Auntie M came to visit along with Cousins Fred and Lia. It brought back memories of their own twins that are now 26 years old!

My beautiful little chubs

Me and my babies on my 30th birthday. What a gift!

Our babies are changing so quickly! It seems like every day they are doing something new! This past week Grayson found his right thumb, and a couple of days ago Ethan found his left! On Saturday we were laying and playing in the nursery. Grayson was on his tummy and rolled over to his back! About 5 minutes later Ethan did the same thing! I couldn't believe it and was so thrilled to be there to see it! What are the chances of them doing it so close together?! This identical twin thing is some crazy stuff I'm telling ya!

They are just continuing to thrive. Last weigh in both boys are about midway through 16 pounds. They are weighing size 3 diapers and 6-9 month clothes. They turned 4 months old last week already!

It has been so incredible for me to see how they recognize me and my voice. There is nothing like knowing your babies know who you are! Tonight for the first time Ethan cried when he was carried away from me. He just cried and cried looking back over his shoulder to see where Mommy went!

They are really cooing to me now. We just carry on conversations and they talk right back! They also love when I sing to them. I sing them EVERYTHING! I make up songs for nearly every single thing I do with them. We sing songs about being stinky, songs about eating, songs about being messy, songs about smiling, songs about kicking, songs about dancing, songs about Kodiak, even songs about their Daddy every now and then. :) Just thank goodness nobody else has to be around to hear them!

The boys are sound asleep in their beds right now. I just heard a couple little grunts. Such sweet noises. The boys are currently sleeping from about 7:30 pm - 6:30 am. They are like little alarm clocks in the morning at 6:30. They are often not a minute past! I am so proud of their sleeping habits though and pray they continue when they teeth start coming in!

The teeth may be coming in soon too. The boys have been developing a lot more spit and seem to like chewing on things more than ever!

Quick run down on their daily schedule: this is mostly for me to not forget what life is like right now as things change too quickly!
  • Up at 6:30. They are SO happy in their cribs in the morning and usually lay talking to themselves for about 10 minutes before I go in and get them up.

  • Eat, play, and back down again at 8:30 or so.

  • Up again around 10:30. Bath time. Eat at 11:30.

  • Play and go down around 1.

  • Up at 3, play, eat, play some more, and go down around 5:15.

  • Sleep for a short nap from about 5:15-5:45
  • Play until bottle at 6:45
  • Down for bed at 7:30

They have really gotten into a groove and seem to be loving it. I sure love every minute with them!

Like Nothing Else

If I could pick a time in my life when I have been the most content, the most fulfilled, the most in awe, the most emotional, the most involved, the most proud, the most happy, the most assured that this is the place God has for me - it would be now. My entire world has been transformed by the entrance of these two small lives. It has been completely changed and will never be the same again. There are moments, so many moments, that I never want to forget.

When I walk into the room and their eyes go directly to me
When I blow on their tummies

When they smile at the sound of my voice

When I kiss their chubby thighs

When I play pat-a-cake

When I sing them songs while I change their diapers and they smile back at me

When I nuzzle my face in their necks and kiss them until they try to squirm away

When they make their satisfied little sighs when they are eating their bottle

When they smile so big and scrunch up their shoulders
When I pat their bottoms to calm them down

When their mouth gets wiped off and they let out a whiny cry

When they stick out their bottom lip and pout

When they talk to me

When their entire body gets excited and they kick their little legs

When they are on their tummies and lift their head up and look around

When they laugh when I touch their nose, even after 20 times
When I feel their breath against my skin
When I smell them and feel completely intoxicated
When they leave wet spots on my shoulders

When they lay their head against my chest when they're tired
When they try to eat their hands
When I feel their heartbeat against my chest

When they are just completely still and content in my arms

There are no words.

There is no way to explain it.

There is no way that I could have imagined it would feel like this.

There is such a love that I have never known could ever have existed.

I would do anything, give anything, be anything...

On this Easter I feel completely in awe. I look at my life - at the past. I look at my weaknesses, my flaws, my insecurities, my stains, my baggage, my tears, my hurts, my fears, my mistakes. I look at every circumstance, every situation over the past 29 years....and then I look at the bundles in my arms...and I think about the cross, the grave, and the resurrection. I think about a God that loves me so much, that in spite of the person I was, all that I've done, I have been so blessed. He has given such freedom, such love, such a family.

I am truly thankful for each person that reads this blog. You are all a special part of my life and part of the reason that I am so completely humbled tonight at my life. I am not always the greatest wife, greatest friend, greatest sister, greatest daughter, greatest mother...but I thank you all for loving me.

I thank God for second chances. For new beginnings. For fresh life.

He is risen.
