Travelin' Fools

We took our first road trip this past weekend to South Carolina to see my brother David graduate from basic training at Fort Jackson in Columbia. We left home on Thursday evening around 4 and hit the road. The back of the Equinox was completely stuffed and Chris even had to take a few pictures of how he packed it to make sure it would all fit back the same again! We drove for a few hours and decided to stop at a Burger King that our GPS said was coming up. We exited the interstate and followed the map looking for the BK. Not to be found! We ended up by a field full of cows. Plenty of beef, but no buns! :)

We turned around with some hungry little boys in the back seat and decided to go to a truckstop right off the exit. We got their bottles heated up and took them out of their car seat to stretch their little bodies a little bit. They were so excited at the new sights and were just looking around talking and kicking their little legs. They ate their bottles with Chris and I in the front seat of the vehicle. After a full belly and a little bit of play time we were off again!

We made it to our hotel around 11 that night. We fed the boys another bottle and put them down for the night. They slept great in their little pack and plays.

The next morning we headed to my parents hotel where the boys were able to meet their uncle Michael and Great Grandma Brustuen for the first time! We then headed over to graduation. The bleachers were a little chilly so we had the boys all wrapped up in blankets. They did great! We were so proud to see Uncle Schmoodie come walking on by! He was chanting and holding his head up so high!

It took us a while to find him afterwards. He had no idea that Chris, myself, and his nephews were coming - so it was incredible to see him and see the look on his face. We spent the day in our hotel room hanging out as a family until it was time to return David back to base that evening.

Chris and I went to bed with the boys that night around 8 pm and woke up the next morning at 7! We were tired!

The next morning we said our goodbyes and headed toward home. On the way home we stopped at a rest stop and put a blanket in the shade. We just enjoyed some time out of the car and played with the boys. Ethan had a dirty diaper and Daddy got a surprise all over his hand! He was the one who put his hand up Ethan's back...big no-no! :) It was such a special trip and time with my family. The boys did so well and I was so proud of them and proud to show them off!
Here are a few pics:
